A better turn out than expected, about a dozen FBA, which enabled us to move about with confidence and in safety, despite the captains orders to travel in numbers. We had worried that some of our actions last year may have been misinterpreted; that someone was spoiling for a fight and would try to sully our good name, pin some nonsense on us and get us into trouble.
As it turned out we were well received and in fact being recognised as the peacekeepers of the seaways, were asked to lend a hand in policing the area. Myself and Mr. Yaroo volunteered our services to the Kings Guard for the duration, while the rest of the group were asked to form a temporary militia which in the atmosphere of public spirited behaviour myself and Yaroo then joined as well. Only Mr. Eldred de Bone decided to decline the one Tolken per hour offered by both groups to remain independent and thus ensure a member of the Guild of Messengers would be available and neutral for any services to the gathered factions.
A quiet night of carousing and consuming vast amounts of alcohol until the wee small hours was followed by a warm day that I missed a large part of by sleeping off a few headaches; but I believe the circle of treachery made its traditional appearance, within which captain Brennan was dropped on his head.
An easy day of drinking ensued. The crew dedicated themselves selflessly to hours of hard shore-leave and made a few new friends, who had no choice in the matter and despite their efforts to the contrary ended up liking us, of course. Again.
Saturday night saw many of us in the casino, where a roulette wheel provided the entertainment. Try as we might, we just seemed unable to lose. I myself left with five times the amount I arrived with, and Eldred came out with so many Crowns in his pouch he could be heard jingling all the way to the bar, where he took up residence for the night. Had he been a lesser man I might have feared for his safety as there were no doubt a number of thieves and cut-throats in the tavern that night! As for Lt. De Lysle, well I think he did rather well for himself as well.
Nuff said.
